Topping For Cotton Fabric

Topping is defined as the addition of color to the fabric after completing one dyeing process. Sometimes it is found that the dyed fabrics do not match with the standard or buyer-approved swatch then it needs to be re-dyeing, this process is called topping. The tipping sequence is near similar to the full dyeing sequence.

Unloading the dyed fabric

Above all, after completing a dyeing process, the shade of the dyed fabrics is checked by the quality control department. If the shade of the dyed goods does not match with the buyer’s approved swatch then they give a decision for topping or stripping.

In sum, topping is an additional process that adds extra dyeing cost to the dyeing process. So, a textile engineer should be aware of the dyeing of the fabrics.
