Flow Chart Of Mercerizing Process For Cotton | Types of Mercerizing

What is Mercerizing

We know that mercerizing is an additional process to improve the physical and chemical properties of the cotton yarn or fabric. For cotton knit dyeing; mercerizing is done before dyeing. Mercerized fabric is more suitable than unmercerized fabric. This process also depends on the buyer’s requirements. It is not a common operation for cotton fabric. It is done for the sophisticated fabric. The machine which is used is vertical type. It consists of a vertical washing chamber.

Types of Mercerizing Process:

The following three types are the mercerizing process. They are-

  1. Grey mercerization (Knitted fabric before dyeing)
  2. Fabric mercerization(Yarn dyed fabric)
  3. Collar & Cuff mercerization.

Frequency of Mercerization:

Mercerizing processes are of two types. The following are the mercerizing types.

  1. Single Mercerization
  2. Double Mercerization

In sum, I have given the basic idea about the mercerizing process. So, do the same which is given in above.

Lastly, mercerizing plays a vital role in adding value to textile products. So, we should be careful about the mercerizing process of cotton fabric as well as bio finish.
