Knit Fabric Dryer
The dryer is the third step of the finishing process of knit fabric. After passing the hydro-extractor and de-watering machine, the knit fabrics enter into the dryer. It is important to know about the efficiency of the dryer and production capacity. I have written about the dyed yarn drying process in one of my blogs.
Functions of Dryer
Various types of functions are achieved by the dryer. The following functions are the most common. They are-
- Firstly, dryer use to dry the fabric.
- Secondly, to control the overfeed system.
- Thirdly, to control the vibration which increase the G.S.M.
- Dryer also use to control the shrinkage% of the fabric.
- After that, to control the GSM of the fabric.
- Moreover, it use to match the shade of the fabric.
- Lastly, to adjust the tone of the fabric.

Quality Test After Drying Process
During drying of the fabric, various types of quality tests are carried out to be confirmed the requirements of the delivery products. The dried knit sample is stored for future proof. The following parameters are checked in the drying section.
Shade Check
After drying the fabric, the dried sample shade is checked with customer approved swatch. If any deviation is found then the operator informs his shift officer, who takes the necessary steps to overcome the problem. In the dryer, the shade of the fabric is adjusted by changing the machine parameter depending on the shade type. Experienced personnel is required for doing this shade checking.
Width Check
The width of the fabric adjusts in the drying process. The operator measures fabric width by using a measuring tape and compare with the required width.
Weight Check
The weight of the fabric is checked by cutting the fabric with a GSM cutter and weighted it by electronic balance. After taking the weight of the fabric, it compares with the standard weight.
Fabric Faults
Various types of knitting and dyeing faults are checked after drying.
So, the dryer plays an important role in the finishing section.
