A textile engineering degree is one of the most demandable programs in Bangladesh. As we know, Bangladesh is a leading garment manufacturing and exporting country in the world. Fulfilling the demand of textile engineers there are some public textile diploma institutes established in Bangladesh. The government of Bangladesh runs eight textile engineering colleges under the Department of Textiles. They are:

  1. Textile Institute, Chattogram
  2. Textile Institute, Tangail
  3. Textile Institute, Natore
  4. Textile Institute, Rangpur
  5. Textile Institute, Dinajpur
  6. Shahid Abdur Rab Serniabat Textile Institute, Barisal
  7. Textile Institute, Khulna
  8. Textile Institute, Bhola

In Bangladesh, students who passed S.S.C or equivalent are eligible for admission to a diploma institute. The above textile institutes are run by the Department of Textiles (DOT) in cooperation with the authority of the Bangladesh Technical Education Board and in compliance with the order of the Institution of Textile Engineers and Technologists (ITET). Some ongoing textile institute projects are waiting for the approval of parliament. Ministry of Textiles and Jute is focusing to establish textile institutes to build up technical personnel for upcoming demand in the textile and apparel market.

The textile diploma course is divided into four major subjects. They are:

  2. Wet Processing
  3. Fabric Manufacturing
  4. Yarn Manufacturing

In Bangladesh, the public textile institute has enough facilities for students to get their lessons in a wonderful academic environment. Most of the institutes have the following facilities:

Every year, the Department of Textile (DOT) publishes an admissions circular for the textile institute. Students can get admission to the textile institute by passing an admissions test. After completion of the diploma course, students can complete a B.Sc. in Textile Engineering degrees.
