Considering Points For Knit Fabric Production

Knitting Machine Settings

Knit fabrics are the fashion of the new age. Various designs of fabrics are produced in a knitting machine. A knitting flow chart should be followed during operation. The setting of the knitting machine is an important task in the knit fabric production process. One has to know about the parameters of knitting machine settings. The following machine parameters should be considered during the production process:. They are-

  1. Machine diameter
  2. Machine rpm (revolution per minute)
  3. No. of feeder in use
  4. Machine gauge
  5. Count of yarn
  6. Required time
  7. Machine running efficiency

Considering Points For Knit Fabric Production

Generally, knit fabric production runs according to the order of the buyer. When a buyer orders fabric, they mention some points related to production and end-product quality. Before the production of knitted fabrics, these factors need to be considered. Those are as follows:

Type of fabric or design of fabric

Knitted fabrics are varied in design. When a buyer orders a product, they give a sample or the specification of the end product. Differently designed fabrics are produced by changing the cam setting, needle setting, and size of the loop shape.

Finished G.S.M

It is a technical term that indicates the weight of the fabric per square meter. In the knitting section, grey fabrics are produced, but the programmer should make his program to get the finished G.S.M. after dyeing. Some points are considered while setting grey G.S.M.; they are enzyme level, color, and suited or unsuited. The G.S.M. of the fabric is controlled in the following way:

  1. Major controlled by VDQ pulley.
  2. Minor adjustments are controlled by stitch-length adjustments.
  3. By altering the position of the tension pulley, the G.S.M. of the fabric can be changed. If the pulley moves towards the positive direction, then the G.S.M. decreases, and in the reverse direction, the G.S.M. increases. This also depends on the machine type.

Yarn Count

Yarn count differs on the finished G.S.M. The higher the yarn count, the higher the G.S.M. of the fabric. Sometimes spandex or lycra is used with the cotton; in that case, the yarn count of cotton is selected with the combination of lycra.

Type of yarn

Different types of yarn are used for knit production. Cotton yarns may be combed or carded. Also, synthetic fiber like lycra is used with cotton in some special cases. It all depends on the buyer’s requirements.

Diameter of fabric

The diameter of the fabric is another factor. Fabric may have an open diameter or a tube diameter. Any gray dia. will be selected with the response of the finished dia. of the fabric.

Stitch length and color depth

If the depth of color of the fabric is high, then the loop length should be higher because fabric with a higher loop length is less compact. In dark shades, dye take-up is high, so G.S.M. is adjusted then. Similarly, in the case of light shade, the loop length should be relatively smaller. Stitch length varies depending on the yarn count and shade of the fabric. If stitch length is not fixed in response to the finished G.S.M., then knitting faults appear.

So, we have to consider the above points before knitting fabric production.
