Process Flow Chart Of Synthetic Fiber Production

Synthetic Fiber

Synthetic fiber is that which is made from different types of polymers Contrarily, it is not cultivated as a natural fiber. Manmade fiber is basically produced from the reaction between different types of monomers. Through the polymerization process, a long chain of polymers is also produced. Then filament is produced by the various spinning processes. Various types of synthetic fiber are available in the market Day by day, its availability increases for its cheap price. But there are lots of bad effects of man-made fiber on the environment.

Now I will show you how man-made fiber is produced.

Process Flow Chart of Synthetic Fiber Production

The process flow chart of various synthetic fibers differs from one to another but the basic process is the same. Here, I have given a flow chart of synthetic fiber production which is the same for all. It is the basic sequence of man-made fiber production.

Raw Materials/monomers

Polymerization

Drawing and Stretching

Texturing

Intermingling

Heat Setting

Finished Filaments

Technical operation in man-made fiber production

Various types of technical operations are involved with synthetic fiber production. They are as follows:

  • Firstly, the preparation of spinning fluid from solid polymers or directly from monomers.
  • Secondly, spinning is the extrusion of the spinning fluid through small dies (Spinnerets). Extension of the emerging fluid jets into filaments of revived thickness, accompanied by solidification of the obtained filaments on a suitable mechanical device
  • Lastly, mechanical, thermal, and chemical treatment is applied to filaments to improve their characteristics and performance.

So, it is not so easy to produce manmade fiber from monomers. One should apply the above techniques for synthetic fiber production.

    • Naim there are many man made and natural fibres, some are:-
Man made fibres are known as synthetic fibres i. e. Rayon, Nylon, Polyester, Acrylic, Plastic etc.

Natural fibres are: Cotton, Wool, Silk, Hemp, Flax, Jute, Rubber etc.
